
This beautiful sac spider was found tucked away beneath the belt clip on the Conservation Intern’s radio, whereafter it was identified.
This is not a common spider and only a handful have been recorded. This is the very first recorded Dark Sac spider found in Limpopo. Only a handful of research has been done on this particular spider.

This is the largest species in the genus Copuetta, with a body length of 12.5 mm. The Dark Sac spider is nocturnal, meaning they hunt at night for a variety of insects. These spiders usually live in thatch roofs, walls, and the bark of trees.
Medical significance: Harmless to humans.
